A Handful of Actors, A Handful of Days, All from Scratch, Always Magical.

Since its premiere in 2015, Bald Mountain Theater’s “There Once Was . . .” has presented audiences a unique, family friendly, fun, and moving experience: What happens when a troupe of professional actors take a small treasure of stories, folktales or myths, spend a scant four days rehearsing and creating and bring them all to life? Using improvised costumes, dance, and music, these performers flesh out a myriad of tales both known and unknown.

In this year’s production, “Stories That Made Us”, the performers come to the rehearsal room with stories, tales or songs that delighted them as children, made them the artists that they are, helped them understand the world, moved them to use their voices as actors to entertain, and to move others. Audiences will see firsthand all the fun and magic that allowed these stories to endure throughout the performers lives; and all performed in the creative way that Bald Mountain is famous for.
